Nids de frelons
The hand rocked copper-plate mezzotint was printed by Thomas Fouque on 300 gm Hahnemuhle paper, plate size 30 x 25 cm. This print was ordered by the Société des Peintres-Graveurs Français for their subscribers. The edition size was 120 plus 15 proofs for the artist. The architecture of the hornets' nests (nids de frelons) constructed with such fragile, delicate materials made an ideal subject for mezzotint.
